Towards a Science of Heritage (University of Plymouth: Interdiscplinary Centre for Computer Music Research) 2018 -

We study the impact of heritage, in particular the context in which exhibitions are situated and displayed in museums. From generic features of the building, its architecture, light and sound to specific curatorial practices such as the design of exhibitions, including the location of objects and visitors’ paths, each and every aspect of this complex interrelated system can potentially affect people’s engagement.

Therefore, in order to maximize visitors’ experiences, this project aims at understanding curatorial practices from the individual perspective, by collecting and analysing behavioural, and bio-physiological objective data, including affective estates, that evidence their reactions whilst visiting the museum.
